The Louvre is one of the most famous and esteemed museums in the world, and now art enthusiasts will be given the incredible opportunity of seeing Paris’ famous landmark not just in the daylight but at nightime too.

Airbnb is offering the chance for two people to spend the night at the Louvre among its most renowned pieces, such as the Mona Lisa.

General manager of Airbnb France Emmanuel Marill said: “We are thrilled to partner with them and to offer exciting and unique experiences that will celebrate our community and welcome Parisians and international travellers to rediscover the museum in a new and authentic way.”

The offer is open until April 12th at 23:00, with applicants having to answer the question: Why would you be the Mona Lisa’s perfect guest? to be in with a chance to win the opportunity to sleep within the iconic glass pyramid.

The Louvre Museum is opening up for the evening to celebrate its 30th anniversary on April 30th this year.

Winners will be able to enjoy a bespoke tour by an art historian, be given a delicious meal in the pop-up dining room, and enjoy an acoustic music concert in Napoleon III’s chambers.

After this, they can cosy up and enjoy a restful night in the pyramid, which was originally inaugurated in 1989 by Francois Mitterrand, president of the French Republic at the time.

There is a list of celebratory events to mark the special anniversary, including exhibitions of Leonardo da Vinci in its museum display cases.

An open-air exhibition with Paris Match magazine is being planned for later in the year, while a free symphonic concert will take place under the Pyramid on June 21st.

The Louvre continues to attract visitors from all over the world, and last year more than 10.2 million people came to see its spectacular exhibitions – more than any other museum on record.
